AUGUST 7, 2009 Warhol Foundation Launches New Website

The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts is pleased to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website at Designed by the award winning Los Angeles based firm, Hello Design, the site features improved navigation and functionality with the goal of making information more accessible, relevant, and easier to share across multiple platforms.  The design, which incorporates elements of Warhol's work throughout, provides a comprehensive overview of the Foundation's activities, and its ongoing mission to advance the visual arts.

Organized under four main categories, Warhol's Legacy; Foundation; Grant and Programs; and Licensing and Sales; the site provides in-depth information about the national visual arts funding program, the creative licensing of Warhol's imagery, and the continued care and scholarship dedicated to Warhol's work and prolific career.

For those seeking funding from the Foundation, the website offers a number of new coponents that will aid in the application process. The most significant addition is an interactive map highlighting Awarded Grants around the country. By selecting a state, potential grantees can see what organizations or exhibitions have been supported in their region, along with a brief description of supported projects. For the first time, this information can also be shared among peers in a variety of ways, as the new site's content has been made available for posting to twitter, Facebook, and other social networking platforms. Soon, the map will also feature a search function, allowing potential grantees to learn more about comparable organizations and obtain a clearer picture about funding opportunities. An expanded FAQ section; details about Creative Capital; the Curatorial Fellowships and Arts Writing programs; direct links to the more than sixty participants in the Warhol Initiative; and information on Regional Regranting provide a greater understanding of the Foundation's numerous and sustained efforts to respond to and expand its support of the visual arts field.

From Fort Worth, Texas to the Grand Palais in Paris, Andy Warhol is as celebrated and influential as at any time during his life. He continues to be the subject of significant exhibitions around the world, and now a select list tracking these exhibitions is available online. Information and highlighted products created in collaboration with the Warhol Licensing Program (voted Best Art Brand at the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association Awards, 2009) are also now enhanced in the redesign. As with the previous site, those interested in seeing the entire history of the Foundation are welcome to download complete pdfs of the Foundation's 20 Year Report. Each of these three volumes details a thorough history of support, preservation, and scholarship carried out by the Foundation.

The new site marks a step forward for the Foundation, encompassing all of its efforts, while boldly reflecting its own innovative spirit and that of the many visual arts leaders and organizations the Foundation supports.
