MÁQUINA SIMPLE 2023 Grantees

Beta-Local is pleased to announce the recipients of the MÁQUINA SIMPLE 2023 grants, part of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts’ Regional Regranting program.  MÁCHINA SIMPLE is adminstered by Beta-Local, a non-profit organization located in San Juan dedicated to supporting and promoting aesthetic thought and practices through various programs. The grants support experimental practices within the visual arts that respond to the current context of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, and that in turn consider new forms of presentation and communication for diverse audiences.

The MÁQUINA SIMPLE 2023 grantees are as follows:

Melissa Alvarez
Javier Bosques
Oswaldo Colón Ortiz
Roy F Guzmán
Deborah Hunt
Ramón Miranda Beltrán
Ada del Pilar Ortiz
Pó Rodill
Anamarie Sierra Pagán
Jose Luis Vargas
Garvin J. Sierra
Edwin Velázquez

MÁQUINA SIMPLE will support the projects of these artists and curators in the field of visual arts. At the end of the grant period, a public presentation or exhibition of their projects will take place.

2007

The Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program was launched in 2007 in celebration of the Foundation’s 20th Anniversary. This unprecedented program donated over 28,500 photographs by Andy Warhol to educational institutions across the United States. More than 180 college and university museums, galleries and art collections throughout the nation participated in the program, each receiving a curated selection of original Polaroid photographs and gelatin silver prints.
