Announcing the Snapdragon Fund 2024 Grant Recipients

VAE is thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2024 Snapdragon Grants! The Snapdragon Fund is a partnership between VAE and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The Fund provides $60,000 of direct funding to artists in our community.

  • $40,000 for eight $5,000 project grants that directly support artist-organized projects.
  • $10,000 for five $2,000 grants available to artists to do research for new or ongoing projects.
  • $10,000 for twenty $500 micro grants that directly support individual artists with a demonstrated talent in social artistry.

Spencer Hathcock – funding for the Neighbor to Neighbor Basketball Court Mural

Aida Guo – funding for RAD Arts leadership program

Courtney Napier – funding for the Black Oak Society Magazine Vol. 7: Black Foodways

Phillip Loken – funding for photographic portraits of the SE Raleigh Community, Free Memories

Alyssa Cuffie – funding for a podcast, NC Artist Oral History Archive

Lee Perine – funding for research for an immersive installation imaging safe futures for QTPIC folks

Meg Day – funding for an American Sign Language poetry exploration

Makala Muhammed – funding for archiving community interviews

Tyshika Dickens – funding for research for an African American photo zine

Becky Joye – funding for research related to her upcoming project, an inhabitable quilt structure
