MOCA Tucson is thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2024 Night Bloom: Grants for Artists program! This year’s grant cohort includes 11 projects by individual artists and artist groups who will receive $3,500 – $7,500 to realize their Night Bloom project proposals:
- Cybertramp by Jazzy Benson (aka Jazzy Boho)
- Deep Rooted Guidance by Palmira Miro Gutierrez
- Earth, Bloody by Desireé Arevalo
- Extra Space by Alex Von Bergen
- Hollow Space, Solid Body by Sara Hubbs and Yuyu Shiratori
- LANDING PLACE by Kimi Eisele and Maxie Adler
- Lilith: A Dark Erotic Arts Experience by Knomi Flores and Allyson Plantz
- Ok Well Tucson by Anto Chávez and Emilia Villegas
- Precious Cargo by rocki swiderski, Kevin Fisher, and the American Institute of Thoughts and Feelings.
- The Covenant Project by Elizabeth Denneau
- Urgent Care Art by Lex Gjurasic and Eli Burke
Applications were evaluated by a distinguished panel of three arts and culture professionals independent from MOCA who were selected for their diversity of experience and expertise. This year’s panelists were: Megan McCready, Deputy Director at Midway Contemporary Art (Minneapolis); Alisha Vasquez, Communications and Accessibility Manager Southwest Folklife Alliance / National Folklife Network, Co-Director of the Mexican American Heritage and History Museum at the Sosa-Carrillo House (Tucson); and Feng-Feng Yeh, Chef and Artist, 2021 Night Bloom Grant Recipient (Tucson).
