Máquina Simple 4 (2026)

Beta-Local will be awarding 14 scholarships of $5,000 each to visual arts projects, totaling $70,000. This grant comes thanks to the Regional Regranting Program of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. This scholarship focuses on supporting experimental practices within the visual arts that respond to the current context of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, while also considering new ways of presenting and communicating aimed at diverse audiences. Beta-Local’s commitment as an organization is to support artistic practices that experiment with form, content, and presentation contexts, as well as projects with limited access to other production funds.

Máquina Simple, is an annual grant that supports visual arts projects responding to the current context of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Through sculpture, installation, painting, video art, sound art, performance art, and printed or digital publications.

“We strive to support institutions that share our artist-centered values. The small grassroots arts organizations as well as the museums that comprise our grantees provide invaluable opportunities for artists to express their unique perspectives on the pressing urgencies of the day. We hope that our grants help to amplify artists’ voices within their communities, in national discussions and debates, and across platforms in the international contemporary art world.”
