Bad Witches: The Spiritual as Empowerment
JAN 30 – JULY 11, 2027
Bad Witches: The Spiritual as Empowerment examines how contemporary artists revisit the historical casting of women as “witches”—as dangerous, deviant, unruly—and reclaim those figures as sites of power. Featuring work made since the 1970s by women artists from across the globe who work in diverse practices and cosmologies, Bad Witches recasts spiritual practices as both a critical language and a political tool through which power is challenged, suppressed histories are reckoned with, and alternative futures are imagined and enacted.
Pablo Helguera: Socialscapes
AUG 14, 2027 – JAN 2, 2028
This first comprehensive, museum-based retrospective of Pablo Helguera offers an in-depth examination of the artist’s multifaceted practice—that includes writing, drawing, singing, directing performances, facilitating social relationships, mailing letters, researching soap operas, or perusing flea markets in search of vintage slides that will serve as prompts for new visual storytelling. Pablo Helguera: Socialscapes is a critical appreciation of artistic heterogeneity and living in-between cultures; of social relationship-building that creates connection and belonging across languages and boundaries—a perspective particularly relevant in the current political moment.
