Founded in December 2001 as an education corporation and not-for-profit alternative space, Participant Inc. seeks to provide a venue in which artists, curators, and writers can develop, realize, and present ambitious projects within a context that recognizes the social and cultural value of artistic experimentation. From a modest storefront space on Houston Street in New York City, Participant Inc. presents work by artists who have traditionally been marginalized or ignored by society and art history.
