Housed in the historic Parkway Theater, the Maryland Film Festival’s programming has expanded upon the more traditional festival screenings and filmmaker conversations to include year-round programming of films and artist-led events specific to the festival’s new facility and in response to the needs of local, experimental filmmakers. The programming is comprised of three distinct screening series: Sight Unseen focuses on experimental uses of narrative, sound, and interactivity in contemporary film and video; Sweaty Eyeballs presents innovative new works in animation, which has expanded to include an annual festival of experimental animation; and Breaking Codes, an ambitious series for new work in expanded cinema.
