Elsewhere, an artist-centered space in Greensboro, North Carolina offers one of the most unique residency experiences in the country. Housed in a former surplus store, with much of its inventory of notions, fabric, toys, and clothing still on the shelves, the institution welcomes artists to engage with the history and materiality of its permanent collection of household goods. With an entire building at their disposal, artists at Elsewhere are invited to create new projects, reimagine the work of past residents, or generate programs in collaboration with the local community.
