New York-based Indie Collect/Laboratory for Icon & Idiom partnered with UCLA Film and Television Archive to present Pioneers of Queer Cinema, a touring retrospective screening series of important, recently restored films by queer filmmakers. The project comprised of twelve individual programs, covering the influential period from 1960 through the 1990s. Cinema scholar, professor, and author B. Ruby Rich contributed a contextual essay that highlights the cultural relevance and artistic significance of the films, some of which have not been seen for decades. The series traveled to six venues across the US including major museums, universities, LGBTQ centers, and media archives.
