Artists in Residence in Everglades (AIRIE)’s mission is to support and enhance the arts and cultural heritage of the Everglades subtropical wilderness through artist residency and public outreach programs. AIRIE operates a residency program for visual artists, writers, choreographers and composers in the Everglades National Park so that those creative professionals may gain experience and insight into this fragile unique wilderness, thereby becoming ambassadors for its appreciation and preservation. AIRIE has hosted 185 artists in residency to date, disseminating the critical message of awareness, conservation and preservation of the Everglades throughout the world via visual, performance and literary art.
