Founded in 2013, the Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) is a nonprofit research and exhibition center dedicated to presenting modern Italian art to diverse audiences of all ages. Through critically acclaimed exhibitions, a wide variety of public programs, and an international fellowship program for young scholars, CIMA situates Italian modern art in an expansive historic and cultural dialogue, illuminating its continuing relevance to contemporary culture.

During the Fall/Winter 2023 – 24 season, CIMA will present a series of public discussions between contemporary artists, curators and scholars to illuminate the current day resonance of its upcoming exhibition TRANSATLANTIC BRIGES: CORRADO CAGLI, 1938-1948 featuring works by the openly gay, Jewish Italian artist that explored issues such as forced exile, political and gender oppression, and racism.

“I love uniforms! Because if there’s nothing there, clothes are certainly not going to make the man. It’s better to always wear the same thing and know that people are liking you for the real you and not the you your clothes make.”
