Founded in 2011 as a monthly showcase for queer film, video and performance in New York City, Dirty Looks is best known for its biennial month-long festival On Location, which presents 31 consecutive days of screenings and related events in 31 bars, community centers and other non-traditional venues associated with queer history across the city. Last year the organization relocated to Los Angeles, where it continues to deepen its commitment to presenting, publishing and commissioning work that celebrates unsung historical and contemporary queer aesthetics in situ. Dirty Looks also extends its reach to cities across the country with touring programs.
