Founded in 1915, the Renaissance Society—colloquially known as the Ren—is an independent contemporary art museum located on the campus of the University of Chicago. With a focus on commissioning and producing new works by an international roster of artists, the Ren highlights creative experimentation that gives form to, challenges, and complicates currents in contemporary thought. It cultivates a space that supports bold, diverse artistic voices, and directs significant resources toward realizing each artist’s vision.
