Ucross is an artist residency program dedicated to fostering the creative spirit of deeply committed artists and groups by providing uninterrupted time, studio space, living accommodations, and the experience of the majestic High Plains, while serving as a responsible steward of its historic 20,000-acre ranch in northern Wyoming.
In June 2021, Ucross hosted the first Native American Art Curatorial Convening (NAACC), a historic gathering that convened many of the nation’s leading curators of Native art. Over three years, the NAACC aims to address the pressing need for Native representation in museums and visual arts organizations, develop new standards and practices involving Indigenous collections, and consider thoughtful mentorship for junior curators and emerging arts professionals from Native communities. The project brings together many of the nation’s leading curators of Native art from institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Denver Art Museum, Dartmouth College, and more.
