Grit Fund Logo

Grit Fund (GF) provides monetary awards—up to $7,000—to encourage the presentation and development of projects that contribute to the vibrancy and development of Baltimore’s arts and cultural landscape.

Grit Fund recognizes there are many structural barriers preventing independent artists, and arts-based cultural organizers, from accessing traditional funding that can advance their work and benefit their communities. GF prioritizes artistic initiatives that present opportunities for artists, cultural workers and community members to develop collaborations that investigate place and space. Grit Fund accept proposals from unincorporated artist-led initiatives that utilize the visual arts as a means to produce collaborative public facing projects.

“Our grantees range from small arts organizations with one staff member to major museums, yet they all provide essential resources for artists as well as innovative platforms for critical cultural dialogue. Creative risk-taking is at the heart of this country’s most meaningful social, political, and cultural developments, therefore we are proud to stand behind artist-centered organizations that support experimental practice.”
