Ruta del Castor is a non-profit organization based in Mexico City. Born out of friendship and a shared desire to create art projects that moves, question, and resonate with its surroundings. The earthquake of September 19, 2017, in Mexico City placed communities in the midst of a crisis, but it also opened a space for community gathering and collective action. That moment led founders Sofía Casarin and Andrea de la Torreto to rethink their role in cultural and artistic practice: they understood that their work could contribute to generating conversations about the world they inhabit. Since 2017, Ruta del Castor has developed a mediation methodology in collaboration with communities in situations of vulnerability and contemporary artists, responding to the diverse challenges it’s society face.
