Rocket Grants specifically encourage work that is inventive and “under the radar”, and that engages or benefits an audience OUTSIDE OF established arts venues, museums, theaters, art galleries or arts districts. The program intends to encourage emerging and non-traditional art practices in the Kansas City region; contribute to a thriving artists’ community; and build bridges between geographic and cultural communities. Awarded projects are therefore evaluated not only on the artistic merits of the proposed projects, but also on their capacity to stimulate further growth. Rocket Grants enable artists to take new risks with their work, push the scope and scale of their activities, develop and pursue collaborative projects, and/or engage with the public and public realm in inventive and meaningful ways.

“Melt” was the last visual artist exhibition that occurred in our old la Esquina space (before we moved to the our new building). This summer exhibition is colorful, huge, and varied in personal experiences and commentaries on what it means to melt. I included two pics for you to choose from.

The Regional Re-granting Program is established to recognize and support the movement of independently organized, public-facing, artist-centered activity that animates local and regional art scenes but that lies beyond the reach of traditional funding sources.
